What Is Sugar?

Sugar is what we call a molecule class of carbohydrates. Glucose, Fructose, Maltose, Lactose, Dextrose and Starch are form of sugar. This substance is prevalent in almost all mainstream foods; sauces, cereal and other packaged goods.

How Sugar Is Absorbed In Your Body

When you consume sugar, your sugar receptors firstly receives signals that tell your brain that you feel great. This is informally referred to as the reward system. However, while the brain feels great, your stomach need to compensate for all the extra sugar by producing more insulin. Consumed too often, in time, your liver will become insulin resistant. This is what leads to type 2 diabetes. Essentially, refined sugar has zero nutritional benefits on your health.

The boost of feel good emotions that sugar provides is not the same as boost that you get when you eat a great tasting meal. The more of the same meal you eat everyday, your dopamine levels become less responsive to this food that once heightened your feel good hormones. The reason for this is because your brain is trained to taste and experience different types of food, ensuring that you are able to consume all the vitamins your body needs in order to function properly. (It also helps you to detect when foods have expired).

With sugar, however, you never reach a point when your dopamine levels are less responsive to each sugary treat you eat. In this way, sugar acts as a drug, inducing you to keep going for this sugary fix leaving you addicted and often, uniformed.

Why Wall Street Loves Sugar For You

The truth about sugar is something the food and scientific industry has known for years. Research was found since in the 1970s hidden in confidential documentation that communicated the concern about sugar's side effects. Researchers have uncovered these. For years, this truth has been kept hidden from people. Right now, that information is out there for you to make an informed decision about.

You can easily find articles and videos informing you of what it is you are putting in your body and what it means for your quality of life. Even so, the mainstream media is still trying to downplay the effects of sugar, especially through subliminal means of advertising. This global addiction means big bucks for 'the man'.

Sugar is Said To Be The Culprit Of

Sugar has long been suspected of causing major diseases. The correlation of sugar consumption and diabetes was uncovered as early as the 1950s. Books such as "Deadly" and "Pure White" were written by British nutritionist,  John Yudkin are a testament to years of research on this matter. It is nothing new.

According to Dr Lewis Cantley, sugar consumption can certainly increase the probability of cancer. In some cancers, in a case where a person may already have cancer and consumes sugar, there are receptors in the tumor consume the glucose, instead of it going to the muscle and fat. This cause the tumor to grow.

Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis and cancer stem from the excessive consumption of sugar. Among these, additional health complications could arise. For example, Alzheimers disease could merely be a deterioration of the brain due to sugar consumption
